By definition, laser cutting or laser beam machining utilizes the thermal energy of a directed laser beam to vaporize, thermally stress crack, melt or burn material from a target area. Combined with modern CNC machine technology, laser cutting machines can be used for high-precision micromachining as well as high-volume and large-format cutting. Because laser cutting is a non-contact processing method, unlike milling, sawing, water jet cutting, etc., it does not scrape, deposit or spray any material on the part or work surface, which allows the laser cutting machine to remain extremely consistent and Fast cutting operations that require little downtime or tool changes, and provide CNC machinists with high-quality components to work in secondary operations.
