The brake slave cylinder is an essential chassis brake component within the braking system. Its primary function is to position the brake pad, enabling friction against the brake drum to reduce vehicle speed and facilitate stopping.
When brakes are applied, the brake master cylinder transmits hydraulic pressure to the slave cylinder. This pressure activates the internal piston, which moves to engage the brake pads against the drum surface.
The slave cylinder operates as the counterpart to the master cylinder within the hydraulic brake system. Positioned at the opposite end of the hydraulic line, the slave cylinder contains a hydraulic piston that responds to fluid pressure transmitted from the master cylinder.
