The core task of an LNG storage tank is to maintain natural gas in a liquid state. Since natural gas is gaseous at room temperature and its volume would expand by 600 times, it is liquefied at low temperatures through various means to reduce its volume. The storage tank adopts a double-layer structure: the inner layer is usually made of low-temperature-resistant 9% nickel steel or stainless steel, the outer layer is made of carbon steel or concrete, and insulating materials such as perlite or polyurethane foam are filled in between. This design can effectively reduce heat transfer and ensure the long-term stable storage of LNG.
