A wedge is a simple device of triangular cross-section used for small adjustment in the position of a body or to apply large forces. Wedges mainly depend on friction when functioning.

Friction wedge is one of the spare parts of railway wagon. It’s installed onto wagon bogie anti-vibration device. Its function is to increase the slewing damping of the bogie and the car body, so that the car body can run safely and restrain the shaking and serpentine motion of the bogie and the car body.
