Good protection against the heat of the sun can be achieved with pleated and honeycomb blinds. Several of the fabrics available here have a reflective coating on the reverse side, reducing the heat energy transmitted through fabric and into a room.

Pleated blinds are both available in various darkening and privacy options. Optically, they are very similar once installed. While the range of fabrics for pleated blinds is more extensive, honeycomb blinds have offer two advantages over simple pleated blinds:
Better insulation properties
Better room darkening properties.
Block out fabrics are available for both pleated and honeycomb blinds to achieve significant light reduction in rooms. However, tiny holes to guide tension cords through the fabric will still allow light to pass through in pleated blinds. As the tension cords for honeycomb blinds run along the inside of the double-layered fabric in honeycomb blinds, more complete darkening can be achieved.
