Q1.What is carbon steel pipe used for?
Carbon steel pipe is used for liquid, gas, and steam services both above- and belowground services. It is not recommended for use in corrosive services but may be used in caustic services.
Stainless steel has a high chromium content that forms an invisible layer on the steel to prevent corrosion and staining. Carbon steel has a higher carbon content, which gives the steel a lower melting point, more malleability and durability, and better heat distribution.
Q3: Is black pipe the same as carbon steel?
One of the main differences between carbon steel and black steel is that carbon steel piping and carbon steel pipe fitting are susceptible to corrosion. Black steel piping, on the other hand, is made from non-galvanized steel and is not susceptible to corrosion.
