Gas-sensitive material used by the MQ-6 combustible gas sensor is tin dioxide (SnO2), which has a low conductivity in clean air. When there is a combustible gas in the environment of the gas sensor, the conductivity of the sensor increases with the increase of the combustible gas concentration in the air. A simple circuit can be used to convert the change in conductivity into an output signal corresponding to the concentration of that gas. MQ-6 combustible gas sensor has high sensitivity to propane, butane, liquefied petroleum gas, and natural gas. This gas sensor can detect a wide range of combustible gases and is a low-cost sensor suitable for a variety of applications.
