Manufacturing Process
Carbon Steel Plates are manufactured through precise metallurgical processes that determine their final mechanical properties, surface finish, and performance characteristics. Depending on the required grade and application, our steel plates are produced using either Hot Rolling or Cold Rolling technology.
Hot Rolling Process
Hot rolling is the primary method for producing structural carbon steel plates:
- Heating: Steel slabs or billets are heated to 1100°C - 1300°C
- Roughing Rolling: Compression to reduce thickness and refine grain size
- Finishing Rolling: Achieving final thickness (0.12mm - 4.0mm) with precise control
- Cooling: Controlled cooling for desired microstructure
- Leveling & Cutting: Ensuring flatness and cutting to required lengths
Cold Rolling Process
For applications requiring superior surface finish and tighter tolerances:
- Pickling: Acid treatment to remove surface scale
- Cold Reduction: Rolling at room temperature for tighter tolerances and improved finish
- Annealing: Heat treatment to restore ductility and formability
- Skin Pass: Light final rolling for improved surface and flatness
- Surface Treatment: Protective oil coating options available
Quality Control
Every stage is monitored to ensure chemical composition meets standards, mechanical properties are maintained, dimensional accuracy achieves ±1% tolerance, and surface quality remains defect-free.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the difference between hot rolled and cold rolled steel?
Hot Rolled Steel: Processed at high temperatures, has a scaled surface, wider tolerance, more economical, ideal for large structural applications.
Cold Rolled Steel: Hot rolled steel further processed at room temperature, smoother surface, tighter tolerances, higher strength, more expensive, better for precision applications.
Cold Rolled Steel: Hot rolled steel further processed at room temperature, smoother surface, tighter tolerances, higher strength, more expensive, better for precision applications.
Q2: What thickness range do you offer?
We offer 0.12mm to 4.0mm thickness range: 0.12-1.0mm for precision forming, 1.0-2.0mm for general fabrication, and 2.0-4.0mm for structural applications. Custom thicknesses available.
Q3: What is the difference between A36, Q235, and Q345?
A36 (ASTM) and Q235 (GB) are equivalent grades with similar properties (yield ≥235 MPa) - ideal for general structural use.
Q345 is a higher strength grade (yield ≥345 MPa) - better for heavy-duty applications like containers and bridges.
Q345 is a higher strength grade (yield ≥345 MPa) - better for heavy-duty applications like containers and bridges.
Q4: What is your delivery time?
Standard delivery time is 7 to 15 days after order confirmation, depending on the quantity and any special requirements.
Q5: What is your MOQ?
Minimum Order Quantity is 1 ton, making it easy for trial orders or specific projects.
Q6: Can you customize the size?
Yes! We offer full customization of thickness (0.12-4.0mm range), width, and length. Provide specifications for custom quote.
Q7: Is this steel suitable for welding and bending?
Absolutely. All our grades are low-carbon steels known for excellent weldability and formability.
Q8: What processing services do you provide?
We offer comprehensive in-house processing: welding, punching, cutting, bending, decoiling, and annealing/black annealed heat treatment options.
Q9: What are your payment terms?
We accept 30% T/T Advance +70% T/T Balance.
Q10: How do you package for export?
We use standard seaworthy packing or as customers required.
