Stainless steel sheets are produced through precise manufacturing processes that determine their mechanical properties, surface quality, and dimensional accuracy.
Step 1: Pickling
Hot rolled coils are cleaned in acid baths to remove scale and surface oxides.
Step 2: Cold Reduction
The pickled coils are rolled at room temperature through multiple stands to achieve the desired thickness. This process:
-
Improves surface finish
-
Achieves tight thickness tolerances (±1%)
-
Increases strength through work hardening
Step 3: Annealing
The cold rolled steel is heat treated in controlled atmospheres to restore ductility and relieve internal stresses.
Step 4: Skin Pass / Leveling
A light final rolling pass improves flatness and surface quality.
Step 5: Surface Finishing
Depending on the final application, various finishes (2B, BA, NO.4, 8K, HL) are applied.
Step 1: Heating
Steel slabs are heated to approximately 1100–1200°C, above the recrystallization temperature.
Step 2: Rolling
The red-hot steel passes through roughing and finishing rolling stands to achieve the final thickness.
Step 3: Cooling & Leveling
The rolled steel is cooled and leveled to ensure flatness.
Step 4: Inspection & Cutting
Finished plates are inspected for dimensional accuracy and surface quality, then cut to required sizes.
