Slotting and separating operations should consider three different aspects to determine the best method and mold solution:
Cutting and grooving workpiece characteristics. Analyze the size and quality requirements of the groove to be processed: processing type, groove depth, groove width, excircle radius, quality requirements, etc.
Workpiece material, shape and quantity.
Whether the material has good chip breaking performance
Production batch: single or batch slotting
Whether the workpiece can be clamped safely
Chip removal
Machine parameters.
Stability, power and torque, especially for large components
Cutting fluid and coolant
Whether the long chip material needs high-pressure coolant to break chips
Speed limit
Use all possible support
Slotting and cutting are unique turning applications that require special tools for many machining applications. These tools can be regarded as the extension of ordinary turning to some extent.
Timely replacement of worn inserts will make the cost of new inserts more economical than if they are excessively worn.
Replace worn or damaged rods.
Do not attempt to repair the tool rest.
