This filter element is critical for the steering clutch and brake system. During bulldozer steering operations, hydraulic oil fills the oil cavity between the steering clutch piston and hub. The resulting oil pressure pushes the piston, driving the pressure plate leftward to release friction and tooth plates, interrupting moment transmission. This causes the bulldozer to lose power on the left side, enabling left turns under right track propulsion. Upon steering completion, releasing the lever allows hydraulic oil to flow back under piston pressure, re-engaging the steering clutch for straight driving operations.
