The addition of titanium to 316Ti alloy can enhance the sensitivity, stabilize the structure and prevent the precipitation of chromium carbide, which is the source of sensitization. It is realized by medium temperature heat treatment, in which titanium reacts with carbon to form titanium carbide.By limiting the formation of chromium carbide, this significantly reduces the sensitivity of the catalyst to sensitization.
