ASTM 1045 Carbon Steel Bright Bar 2.5m-10m Round Bar
1045 steel is an alloy made from iron combined with other elements, the most common of which is carbon. Carbon makes up about 0.2% to 2.1% of the weight of steel, depending on the grade of the steel. Other alloying elements that are sometimes used include manganese, chromium, vanadium and tungsten. Carbon and other elements act as hardeners, preventing the lattice of iron atoms from dislocation as atoms slip past other atoms. By adjusting the amount of alloying elements, their presence and form in the steel (solute elements and participating phases), it is possible to control the characteristics of the finished steel, such as hardness, ductility and strength. Steel with carbon will be harder and stronger than pure iron, but it will be less ductile than iron.
