A 2V VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery is a type of rechargeable battery commonly used in various applications, including backup power systems, telecommunications, renewable energy storage, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
The "2V" indicates the nominal voltage of the battery. VRLA batteries are designed to operate at a relatively constant voltage, and the 2V rating signifies that the battery cell has a nominal voltage of 2 volts. In practical applications, multiple cells are connected in series to form a battery bank with a higher voltage.
VRLA batteries are also commonly referred to as sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries because they are designed to be maintenance-free and do not require periodic addition of water or electrolyte. The AGM technology used in these batteries involves the use of a fiberglass mat soaked with electrolyte, which is absorbed between the battery plates. This design immobilizes the electrolyte and makes the battery spill-proof and resistant to vibration.
VRLA AGM batteries are known for their reliable performance, high energy density, and long service life. They offer a good balance between cost, capacity, and maintenance requirements. These batteries are typically used in applications where the power demand is not extremely high but requires a reliable backup power source.
