Annealing temperature: 1850-2000°F. Rapid cooling through 1500-800°F range prevents carbide precipitation. Hardened exclusively through cold working processes.
Exhibits similar bending, forming and drawing characteristics to Type 301 stainless steel.
Compatible with all conventional welding methods for 18% chromium, 8% nickel steels. Uses standard chromium-nickel filler metals. Note: Susceptible to intergranular corrosion in weld heat affected zones.
Resistant to wide range of mild to moderately corrosive environments. Corrosion resistance approaches Type 301 and serves as effective substitute for 304 stainless in many applications.
