Material Properties
General Characteristics

Inconel 625 is an austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium alloy offering exceptional corrosion resistance combined with high strength from cryogenic temperatures to 1800°F (982°C). The alloy's strength comes from solid-solution hardening by molybdenum and niobium, eliminating the need for precipitation-hardening treatments.

Applications
  • Aerospace Components: bellows, ducting systems, jet engine exhaust
  • Air Pollution Control: chimney liners, FGD components
  • Chemical Processing: equipment for oxidizing and reducing acids
  • Marine Service: steam line bellows, ship exhaust systems
  • Nuclear Industry: reactor components, waste reprocessing equipment
  • Offshore Oil & Gas: flare stacks, piping systems, riser sheathing
  • Petroleum Refining: waste flare gas stacks
  • Waste Treatment: incineration components
Corrosion Resistance

Inconel 625 provides outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, impingement corrosion, and intergranular attack. The alloy is virtually immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking and performs well in mineral acids, alkalis, and organic acids under both oxidizing and reducing conditions.

Fabrication & Processing

Alloy 625 can be easily welded using standard processes including GTAW, GMAW, SAW, and SMAW. No post-weld heat treatment is required. The alloy can be hot-formed at 900-1177°C and cold-formed in the annealed condition.
