317/317L Stainless Steel Pipe
317L stainless steel pipe, also known as UNS S31703 and Grade 317L SS pipe, it is a low carbon high grade stainless steel pipe, with a good corrosion resistance and machine work performance. Compare to 317L, 317 stainless steel has a higher carbon content, it means that 317 stainless steel has a better heat resistance. 317/317L Stainless Steel Pipes PMI Test
- In the point of chemical composition, the chromium, nickel and molybdenum contents of 317L stainless steel pipe are increased by 2%, 1%, and 1% compare to 316L stainless steel pipe. The threes are the main elements that determine the performance of stainless steel pipe. Reflected in the Pitting corrosion resistance, the performance of 317L stainless steel is better than 304L and 316L stainless steel.
- The corrosion resistance of 317L stainless steel is similar to 316L stianless steel . The high molybdenum content ensures that it has a better resistance to overall and local corrosion for most media – such as sulfuric acid, acid chlorine and phosphoric acid. In strong oxidizing acids such as nitric acid, 317L stainless steel is susceptible to corrosion.
- The performance of the 317L stainless steel is basically the same as 317 stainless steel. Due to the lower carbon content, the welding performance of 317L ss pipe and the intergranular corrosion resistance performance at high temperature (427~816 °C) are better than 317 ss pipe.
