Duplex 2205 plates are extensively used in applications that require good corrosion resistance and strength. At temperatures above 300°C, the brittle micro-constituents of it undergo precipitation, and at temperatures below -50°C the micro-constituents undergo ductile-to-brittle transition; hence this it is not suitable for use the above temperatures.
duplex 2205 stainless steel sheet exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, much higher than that of grade 316. It withstands localized corrosion types like intergranular, pitting and crevice.
Duplex steel plates are resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking at 150°C temperature. It is an appropriate replacement to austenitic grades, especially in marine environments and premature failure environments.
duplexss plate has high oxidation resistance property is spoiled by its embrittlement above 300°C.By a full solution annealing treatment this embrittlement can be modified. It performs well at temperatures below 300°C. The best suited heat treatment of duplex sheet is the solution treatment, between 1020 - 1100°C, followed by rapid cooling. It can be work hardened but cannot be hardened by thermal methods.
