About Stainless Steel Rebar
Stainless steel rebar has been successfully applied to many bridge and construction projects in the most corrosion-prone areas. These bars extend the life of the structure and minimize maintenance requirements, providing an excellent price/performance ratio.
While carbon steel rebar is sufficient for many construction projects, in some cases concrete does not provide adequate natural protection. This is especially true for ocean-type environments and those where de-icing agents are used, which can lead to chloride-induced corrosion. Standard of Stainless Steel Rebar
The main stainless steel rebar standards used today are BS 6744 (UK) and ASTM A955 (USA) , although there are others such as XP135014 (France). Other countries just use the carbon steel standard, sometimes with minor adjustments, such as SIA 262 (Switzerland) or DIN 488(Germany).
