What is a H Beam?
H-Beam, as the name suggests, is rolled steel joist (RSJ) with the cross section in the form of the capital letter H. It is the
one of the most common and widely used structural steel member used in both residential and commercial building projects.
Because of its superior mechanical properties and better strength to weight ratio, they make for the preferred choice of material for mezzanines, bridges, and platforms. Plus they have wide flanges which are commonly used in residential building projects.
Hot rolled H beam
Billet after finishing and weighing, into the heating furnace.Then high pressure phosphorus removal, into the universal roughing mill rolling, and finally into the universal finishing mill forming.
Welded beam
Welded light gauge steel H section is H-steel manufactured
continuously from a hot-rolled steel strip by high-frequency resistance welding. It features thinner plate thickness and more accurate cross-sectional dimensions compared to a hot-rolled H section.

Difference of H beam and I beam
2. I-beams can only be used for beams, while H-beams can be used for structural load-bearing columns.
3. H-beam is an economical cross-section steel with better mechanical properties than I-beam. It is named because the shape of the cross-section is the same as the English letter "H". The flanges of hot-rolled H-beams are wider than I-beams, with greater lateral rigidity and stronger bending resistance. Under the same specifications, H-beams are lighter in weight than I-beams.
4. I-steel flanges are variable-wearing surfaces that are thicker on the web and thinner on the outside; H-beam flanges are equal-wearing surfaces.
