Hot Rolled 17-4PH Stainless Steel Round Bar with Bright Surface and OD 6-300mm
17-4 Precipitation Hardening (Type 630) is a chromium-copper precipitation hardening stainless steel designed for applications requiring high strength and moderate corrosion resistance. This alloy maintains high strength up to approximately 600°F (316°C).
- Precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel with copper and niobium additions
- High strength and hardness maintained up to 572°F (300°C)
- Mechanical properties optimized through heat treatment
- Very high yield strength up to 1100-1300 MPa (160-190 ksi)
- Corrosion resistance equivalent to Alloy 304 or 430 in most media
- Offshore equipment (foils, helicopter deck platforms)
- Food processing industry
- Pulp and paper manufacturing
- Aerospace components (turbine blades)
- Mechanical components
- Nuclear waste casks
- ASTM A693 grade 630 (AMS 5604B) UNS S17400

17-4PH stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to standard hardenable stainless steels, performing comparably to Alloy 304 in most environments. For applications with stress corrosion cracking risks, aging temperatures above 1022°F (550°C) are recommended.
- 1022°F (550°C) - Optimal for chloride media
- 1094°F (590°C) - Optimal for H2S media
Note: The alloy may experience crevice or pitting corrosion when exposed to stagnant seawater for extended periods.
