Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe S31803 Pipes
Duplex Steel 2205 Seamless Tube is a nitrogen-enhanced duplex stainless steel engineered to address common corrosion issues encountered with 300 series stainless steels. The term "duplex" refers to a family of stainless steels that combine characteristics of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. The microstructure of 2205 duplex stainless steel consists of austenite pools surrounded by a continuous ferrite phase, with approximately 40-50% ferrite in the annealed condition. As the workhorse grade in the duplex family, 2205 is the most widely used duplex stainless steel.
The duplex structure combines the beneficial properties of ferritic alloys (stress corrosion cracking resistance and high strength) with those of austenitic alloys (ease of fabrication and corrosion resistance). Note that 2205 Duplex stainless steel should be limited to temperatures below 600°F, as prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures can cause embrittlement.
