Alloy 2205 (UNS S32305/S31803) is a duplex stainless steel composed of 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum and 5-6% nickel-nitrogen alloy. It offers high strength, good impact toughness and excellent overall and local corrosion resistance.
- Superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared to 316L and 317L austenitic stainless steel
- Lower thermal expansion coefficient and higher thermal conductivity than austenitic stainless steel
- Compressive strength twice that of austenitic stainless steel, allowing for weight reduction and cost savings
