Product Description
34CrNiMo6 Alloy Steel Bar - High Tensile Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum Steel

34CrNiMo6 (DIN 1.6582, EN 10083-3) is a premium high-hardenability alloy steel bar featuring nickel-chromium-molybdenum composition. This hot-rolled steel bar is supplied hardened and tempered in the tensile range of 930-1080 MPa, delivering exceptional strength and toughness even in large sections.

Product Specifications

Diameter Range: 10-350mm

Length: Custom cut to your requirements

Condition: Hardened and tempered (Condition U)

Material Characteristics

34CrNiMo6 is characterized by high tensile strength and superior toughness in relatively large cross-sections. The pre-hardened and tempered material can be further surface hardened through flame or induction hardening processes, as well as nitriding treatments.

Industrial Applications
  • Aircraft and automotive components
  • Propeller shafts, connecting rods, and gear shafts
  • Heavy forgings, rotors, and discs
  • Pulley shafts, gears, pins, and axles
  • Heavy-duty gears, spindles, studs, and bolts
  • Couplings, sprockets, pinions, and torsion bars
  • Conveyor system components

Heat Treatment Guidelines
Annealing

Heat to 800°C - 850°C, hold until uniform temperature throughout section, and cool in furnace.

Flame or Induction Hardening

34CrNiMo6 hardened and tempered bar can achieve case hardness exceeding Rc 50. Heat rapidly to 830°C - 860°C austenitic range, then quench in oil or water. Temper between 150°C - 200°C to remove quenching stresses.

Hardening

Heat to 830°C - 860°C, maintain uniform temperature, soak for 10-15 minutes per 25mm section, then quench in oil, water, or polymer. Temper immediately while hand warm.

Nitriding

Achieves surface hardness up to Rc 60. Process at 490°C - 530°C with slow cooling. Nickel content may require longer nitriding cycles due to resistance to nitrogen diffusion.

Stress Relieving

Heat to 600°C - 650°C, maintain uniform temperature, soak for 1 hour per 25mm section, and cool in still air.

Tempering

Re-heat to 450°C - 660°C as required, maintain uniform temperature, soak for 1 hour per 25mm section, and cool in still air. Avoid tempering between 250°C - 450°C due to temper brittleness.

Note: Heat treatment parameters may vary based on workpiece size, shape, furnace type, quenching medium, and transfer facilities.
