Material Description: Oxygen-Free Copper (C10100)
Oxygen-free high thermal conductivity (OFHC) C10100 copper is specifically designed for electrical and electronic conductors, wave guides, cavity resonators, super conductor matrixes, vacuum tube and solid-state devices, and glass to metal seals.
C10100 copper features a conductivity rating of 101% IACS - the highest among all copper alloys. With a chemical composition of 99.99% pure copper, it offers exceptional electrical and thermal performance. The material has a density of 8.89 to 8.94 grams per cubic centimeter and a melting point of 1083 degrees Celsius.
Benefits of Oxygen-Free Copper
Oxygen-free high conductivity (OFC) copper C10100 undergoes electrolytic refining in an electrically charged solution of copper sulfate and sulfuric acid, resulting in exceptionally low oxygen content (less than 0.001%). This high-purity copper delivers superior conductivity and enhanced ability to transfer low-frequency sounds, making it ideal for high-end audio-visual systems, speaker wires, audio/video connector cable assemblies, and amplifier wires.
Fabrication Properties
  • Machining: Machinability rate of 20%
  • Welding: Recommended methods include soldering, brazing, gas shielded arc welding, oxyacetylene welding and butt welding
  • Forging: Forged at 760-871°C with a forging rate of 65%
  • Hot Working: Excellent hot working properties
  • Cold Working: Excellent cold working properties
  • Annealing: Annealing occurs at 371-649°C
