The rotary kiln operates as a cylindrical vessel inclined slightly to the horizontal, rotating slowly about its axis. Material is fed at the head of the kiln and calcined as it moves through the shell. Fuel is injected from the kiln tail, with hot air directly impacting raw materials. Due to the shell's slope and low-speed rotation, materials continuously turn over and mix while moving from the high-end to low-end along the axial direction. The material undergoes decomposition, calcination, and cooling processes before discharging as clinker from the low-end.
