This system, designed for the efficient production of sodium hypochlorite (NaClO), is an integral component in modern water disinfection processes. Utilizing only seawater and electricity, it produces a high concentration of sodium hypochlorite solution, making it ideal for various applications including municipal water treatment, industrial water processing, and swimming pool maintenance.

 

 

 

Electrolysis of hypochlorite salts can produce sodium hypochlorite, a potent disinfectant. It's clear, soluble in water, and solves the solubility challenges faced by gas disinfectants like chlorine gas, chlorine dioxide, and ozone, eliminating the safety risks often associated with these chemicals. It doesn’t produce harmful health and environmental by-products and avoids the precipitates from bleach use. Sodium hypochlorite is widely used in various water treatments, including tap water, reclaimed water, industrial circulating water, swimming pools, and hospital wastewater. However, due to its instability and transportation challenges, it's typically prepared on-site by electrolyzing salt water.
