Type 201 is an austenitic chromiumnickel-manganese stainless steel that was developed originally to conserve nickel. It provides properties similar to Type 301 and can be used in most applications for Type 301. This alloy is nonmagnetic in the annealed condition, but becomes slightly magnetic when cold worked. The rate of work hardening is similar to Type 301, although Type 201 develops somewhat higher yield strength while retaining equal ductility when cold worked. Toughness at low temperatures is excellent.
Stainless steel grade 301 is a commonly available austenitic stainless with good corrosion resistance and elevated carbon to allow for cold working to a variety of tempers. It can be obtained in the 1/4 hard, 1/2 hard, and full hard.
Alloy 321 (UNS S32100) is a titanium stabilized austenitic stainless steel with good general corrosion resistance. It has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C). The alloy resists oxidation to 1500°F (816°C) and has higher creep and stress rupture properties than alloys 304 and 304L. It also possesses good low temperature toughness.
441 Stainless Steel is a stabilized FERRITIC stainless steel stabilized with both titanium and columbium. Offers higher oxidation resistance, improved creep resistance and moderate formability. Typical MAX thickness .098″/2.5mm. End users include manufacturers of automotive, heat exchanger and tubing components.
