Alloy C37000 possesses favorable machining characteristics. The machinability rating for C37000 is 70% of free cutting brass (C36000).Alloy C37000 exhibits an excellent capacity for being hot worked. Best results are obtained between 1200°F to 1300°F. This alloy has a poor capacity to be cold worked. If cold working is required, it is recommended that this be followed by stress relieving at 550°F for 1 hour to reduce the possibility of stress corrosion cracking.C37000 alloy can be used for forging applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance and machinability. Typical applications include valve bodies, plumbing, hardware, fittings and miscellaneous brass forgings.
UNS C37710 forging brass alloys have good forgeability. They are available in the form of rod.
UNS C37700 forging brass alloys have good forgeability. They are available in the form of rod.The machinability rating of UNS C37700 brass alloys is 80.Brazing, soldering, and butt welding methods are preferred for welding UNS C37700 brass alloys. Spot welding, oxyacetylene welding, seam welding, coated metal arc welding, and gas shielded arc welding are not preferred for welding these alloys.
C35300 is excellent in soldering and free machining properties. Brazing, soldering, and butt welding are most commonly used methods for welding the UNS C35300 brass alloys. Seam welding, gas shielded arc welding, oxyacetylene welding, coated metal arc welding, and spot welding methods are not used for welding these alloys.This alloy is typically used for industrial applications and is mainly made up of copper and zinc. UNS C35300 brass alloys are used in screw machine products for peening, thread rolling, crimping, and knurling purposes.
