Multilayer PCBs are printed circuit boards that have more than two layers of conductive material separated by insulating layers. These PCBs are used in applications where a higher density of components is required, or where complex circuits need to be accommodated in a smaller space.

Multilayer PCBs are composed of multiple layers of substrate material, usually made of fiberglass or plastic, with a thin layer of conductive material (usually copper) etched to create the circuitry. The layers are then laminated together using heat and pressure to create a single board with multiple layers of circuitry. The conductive layers are connected using plated-through holes, which allow for electrical connections between the layers.
