Product Description:
HYDAC diaphragm accumulators are designed to store hydraulic energy by utilizing the compressibility of a gas (nitrogen). This gas is necessary because fluids are incapable of storing energy on their own due to their incompressible nature. The diaphragm serves to separate the gas and fluid sides of the accumulator.
The diaphragm accumulator works by drawing in fluid from the hydraulic circuit as pressure increases, compressing the gas. As pressure decreases, the gas expands and returns the stored energy to the circuit.
To prevent the diaphragm from extruding through the fluid port, a poppet is incorporated into its design.
HYDAC offers two types of diaphragm accumulators:
- Welded: These are non-repairable and are typically used in industrial and mobile applications for tasks such as energy storage, pressure maintenance, and leakage compensation.
- Threaded: These are repairable and have been successfully applied in vehicle hydraulic systems for tasks like brake and suspension control.
