Description

The FAN2106 is a highly efficient, small-footprint,constant-frequency, 6 A, integrated synchronousbuck

regulator.The FAN2106 contains both synchronous MOSFETsand a controller/driver with optimized

interconnects inone package, which enables designers to solve highcurrent requirements in a small area

with minimalexternal components. Integration helps to minimizecritical inductances, making component

layout simplerand more efficient compared to discrete solutions.The FAN2106 provides for external

loopcompensation, programmable switching frequency,and current limit. These features allow designflexibility

and optimization. High-frequency operationallows for all-ceramic solutions.The summing current-mode

modulator uses losslesscurrent sensing for current feedback and over-currentprotection. Voltage

feedforward helps operation overa wide input voltage range.Fairchild’s advanced BiCMOS power

process,combined with low-RDS(ON) internal MOSFETs and athermally efficient MLP package, provide

the ability todissipate high power in a small package.Output over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current,

andthermal shutdown protections help protect the devicefrom damage during fault conditions.

FAN2106prevents pre-biased output discharge during startupin point-of-load applications.
