PPGI steel is short for pre-painted galvanized steel. As the name implies, it uses hot-dip galvanized steel as a substrate. Then the galvanized steel is cleaned and pre-treated first to remove the oil and dust on the surface. After that, the prepared base metal is painted with layers of organic coatings, such as PE, SMP, HDP, PVDF, etc. Wanzhi Steel offers paints from different brands, such as Nippon paint, AkzoNobel paint, etc. This continuous painting process is known as the coil coating process, resulting in a multi-layered structure of PPGI steel. The layers include the base metal, zinc coating layer, pre-treatment (chemical conversion coating) layer, primer coating, and top/back coating.
