Superior to 316L or 317L stainless steel due to high chromium (22%), molybdenum (3%), and nitrogen (0.18%) content.
Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and acidic environments.
Enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking compared to austenitic stainless steels.
High strength combined with corrosion resistance provides superior corrosion fatigue strength.
Recommended temperature range: 1750-2250°F. Requires solution anneal at 1900°F minimum with rapid quenching.
Requires higher forming forces than austenitic steels due to rapid work hardening characteristics.
Annealing at 1900°F minimum followed by rapid water quenching to maintain optimal properties.
