Nitronic 50 stainless steel (UNS S20910/ASTM XM-19) is an austenitic alloy with nitrogen addition that provides superior performance compared to 316 stainless steel, including increased strength, greater corrosion resistance, and double the yield strength.

Technical Specifications
Hardness Properties
Annealed condition: Brinell hardness 150, Rockwell hardness B80. Hardness increases through cold working.
Heat Treatment
Annealing temperature range: 1950-2050°F (1066-1121°C) with rapid cooling/quenching. For highly corrosive environments, use maximum temperature (2050°F) to minimize intergranular attack risk.
Machinability
Similar to other austenitic stainless steels but requires more power, slower speeds, and higher rigidity due to high work hardening rate. Carbide-coated tooling recommended.
