Description
The cable design consists of fibers housed within a flexible tube made of high-strength plastic, filled with a
water-resistant compound. At the core, a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP), sometimes coated with polyethyle-
ne (PE) for higher fiber counts, serves as a dielectric strength member. Surrounding this member, tubes and
fillers are stranded to form a compact circular core. To shield against water ingress, the cable core is filled
with water-blocking tape and covered by a thin PE inner sheath. Following this, a PSP layer is longitudinally
applied over the inner sheath, completing the cable with a protective PE outer sheath.
