1. The tungsten carbide insert brazed into the body of the cut-off tooth is at the heart of the cutting operation and is subjected to extreme stresses due to its constant contact with the rock. 
2. The trunnion body (head and shaft) is made of heat-treated steel, which supports the tungsten carbide blades and protects the pick box. The tungsten tungsten carbide blades are extremely wear-resistant and can withstand impacts. 
3. The blades are sintered material made of tungsten carbide and cobalt binder. Depending on the application, many tungsten carbide grades and shapes are available.
