Fluidized bed filler, also known as MBBR filler, is a three-dimensional hollow filler commonly used in aerobic biological fluidized bed process, mainly as a carrier for aerobic organisms. This filler has a hollow structure, and when in normal operation, it is suspended in water. Anaerobic bacteria grow in its interior and achieve nitrogen removal through denitrification. Outside, aerobic bacteria grow to remove organic matter. Therefore, there are both nitrification and denitrification processes in the whole treatment process.

The main function of this filler is to accelerate the film hanging process of the filler, provide a large effective surface area, so that the amount of biological attachment is large. It relies on biofilms for processing, so the sludge reflux step can be eliminated. Excellent performance in decarbonization and ammonia nitrogen removal, helping to improve effluent water quality. Because the fillers of the fluidized bed have no support and are easy to flow, energy consumption can be saved. In addition, in aquaculture, fluidized bed fillers are also used to remove ammonia nitrogen and purify water, while saving floor space and shortening the process
