Working Principle and Process Flow
The PSA nitrogen generator is an automated system that uses carbon molecular sieves (CMS) as adsorbents to separate nitrogen from air through pressure adsorption and atmospheric desorption.
Basic Knowledge
Gas Properties: Nitrogen (N₂) constitutes 78.084% of air by volume. It's colorless, odorless, and chemically inert with a molecular weight of 28, boiling point of -195.8℃, and condensation point of -210℃.
Pressure Principles: The PSA process operates at optimal adsorption pressure of 0.75-0.9 MPa, utilizing the kinetic energy of compressed air for gas separation.
Working Principle
CMS pressure swing adsorption nitrogen generators use specially processed carbon molecular sieves with precisely controlled pore sizes (0.3-0.5 nm) to dynamically separate oxygen (O₂) and nitrogen (N₂) based on their different diffusion rates.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does a PSA Nitrogen Generator work?
The system uses two adsorption towers filled with CMS. Compressed air enters the first tower where O₂ is adsorbed under pressure while nitrogen exits as product gas. When saturated, the system switches to the second tower while the first depressurizes to release adsorbed O₂.
What maintenance is required?
- Daily: Check pressure gauges and filters
- Monthly: Replace air filters
- Annually: Inspect CMS and valves
