The inner gear ring is fixedly connected to the housing, and the oil entering from the oil port drives the rotor to revolve around a center point. This slowly rotating rotor is driven by a spline shaft and is called a cycloidal hydraulic motor. After the advent of this initial cycloidal motor, after decades of evolution, another concept of motor began to take shape. In the late 1850s, the initial low-speed, high-torque hydraulic motor was developed from a stator and rotor component of an oil pump. This component consisted of an inner gear ring and a matching gear or rotor.

The cycloidal hydraulic motor is a small, low-speed, high-torque hydraulic motor with a single-shaft flow distribution and inlaid gear stator and rotor pair.

Its advantages are as follows:

1. Small size and light weight, its overall dimensions are much smaller than other types of hydraulic motors with the same torque.

2. Wide speed range, stepless speed regulation, minimum stable speed of up to 15 rpm, easy installation and layout, low investment cost.

3. It can be used in series or in parallel in the hydraulic system.

4. Small rotational inertia, easy to start under load, can be used in both forward and reverse directions, and no need to stop when reversing.

Cycloid hydraulic motors are widely used, mainly in the rotary mechanisms of various machinery such as agriculture, fishery, light industry, lifting and transportation, mining, and engineering machinery.
