Electric power steel pipes are classified into two main categories: seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes (including longitudinal welded pipes). According to the cross-sectional shape, they can be further divided into round pipes and special-shaped pipes. While round steel pipes are widely used, there are also some special-shaped pipes such as square, rectangular, semicircular, hexagonal, equilateral triangular, and octagonal pipes.

Steel pipes used for fluid pressure applications are subjected to hydraulic tests to inspect their pressure resistance and quality. They should not leak, wet, or expand under the specified pressure to be qualified. Some steel pipes also need to undergo edge bending tests, expansion tests, flattening tests, etc., according to standards or requirements.

Electric power steel pipes refer to steel materials with open ends and hollow cross-sections, with a length much larger than their circumference. They can be divided into seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes according to the production method. The specifications of steel pipes are represented by their external dimensions (such as outer diameter or side length) and wall thickness. The size range is very wide, from very small-diameter capillary tubes to large-diameter pipes with diameters of several meters. Steel pipes can be used in pipelines, thermal equipment, machinery industry, petroleum geological exploration, containers, chemical industry, and special applications.
