Thinkbond 27MS is a lead-free bonding agent designed for bonding rubber compounds to metals and other solid materials under vulcanization conditions. This adhesive is particularly effective for compounds that are difficult to bond and have low hardness. It can be used as a one-coat bonding agent or as a cover cement over primers like Thinkbond 11H.

For optimal bonding, prepare metal surfaces by completely removing oil, grease, and dirt. Grit blast the surface to achieve roughness greater than 15 µm. For aluminum surfaces, use aluminum oxide as abrasive. After blasting, clean the substrate to remove dust residues. Thinkbond 27MS can be applied to surfaces treated by chemical processes like galvanizing, phosphating, or KTL.
Brushing: Use undiluted. Drying time approximately 30 minutes at 20ºC. Stir before and during use.
Spraying with air: Dilute with xylene or solvent (1 part bonding agent + 0.3-0.6 parts diluent). Viscosity should be 30-90mPa.s(cp) (Brookfield LVT). Drying time approximately 15 minutes at 20ºC. Use spray gun (e.g., Walther Pilot III) with 1.0 mm nozzle at 3-4 bar air pressure. Stir before and during use.
Other application methods are possible. For cleanup before heat application, use solvents like xylene or perchloroethylene.
Prolonged inhalation of vapors is harmful. Always use with facial breathing mask, gloves, protective glasses, and proper ventilation. Continuous skin contact may cause irritation. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting - seek immediate medical attention.
Storage: Keep container tightly closed and away from heat sources. Storage below 10ºC extends shelf life.
