What is Sputumlysis?

Intended for homogenization of sputum specimen before the acid fast staining to increase the positive detection rate. In making sputum acid
fast staining, mostly untreated sputum specimen, made directly smears and staining, therefore, the accuracy and the detection rate is generally lower. According to statistics, the direct sputum smear was found the positive specimen only about 30 ~ 40%. And untreated sputum specimen fixed in the drying process, positive for acid fast bacilli in the sputum specimen of patients will be more easily evaporation and dispersed in the air, the operator and surrounding personnel may therefore be cross infection.
