Periodic Acid- Schiff Stain (PAS) 100Tests Baso Clear Colourful Stains

 

Testing Principle

The dyeing reaction is a periodic acid-Schiff reaction, which can oxidize the glycol group (-CHOH-CHOH) in the
intracellular polysaccharide to form a dialdehyde group (-CHO-CHO), aldehyde group and Schiff (Schiff) reagents
in the formation of purple colorless magenta compounds, located in the cytoplasm.
 
Stain Results
Red (or purple) granules found in cytoplasm means positive. Interpretation may vary with different kinds of cells in specimen.
Interpretation for Nucleated Erythrocytes:
“ 0 ”:No red granules are found in cytoplasm;
“ + ” : Few sporadic positive granules are found in cytoplasm. They may also be stained in light red, while generally shall be stained deeper than normal red cells.
“ 2+ ”:One or two dark granule rings are found in cytoplasm, or medium red color appears sporadically in cytoplasm.
“ 3+ ”:Either large granules or small to big“red masses” are found in cytoplasm.
Interpretation for Lymphocytes:
“ 0 ”:No red granules are found in cytoplasm.
“ + ”:One PAS positive granule circle found in cytoplasm.
“ 2+ ”:Two PAS positive granule circles found in cytoplasm.
“ 3+ ”:Three PAS positive granule circles found in cytoplasm.
“ 4+ ”:Large and red masses found in cytoplasm.
