Testing Principle
Helicobacter pylori and spirochetes have an affinity for silver. Under certain conditions, they can adsorb silver ions from a silver solution. After treatment with a developing solution, the adsorbed silver ions are reduced to black metallic silver, resulting in visible coloration.
Stain Results
Helicobacter pylori and spirochetes appear brownish-black to black, while the remaining background tissues show a grayish-yellow to yellowish-brown coloration.
