R.Wolf 8655.144 Electroscope Ceramic Cartridge Surgical Instrument Part
R.Wolf 8655.144 Electroscope Ceramic Cartridge
► Brief Description
The Ceramic Cartridge (Insulation Tip) is a high-precision safety component integrated into the distal end of the R. Wolf 8655.144 Internal Sheath. Designed for use in electrosurgical resection, it serves as the critical barrier between the active High-Frequency (HF) electrode and the stainless steel body of the sheath. This ensures that the electrical energy is directed exclusively toward the targeted tissue, protecting both the patient and the surgical equipment.
► Features
- Electrical Insulation: The primary role of the ceramic cartridge is HF-Insulation. During a Transurethral Resection (TURP) or similar procedure, the loop electrode carries high-frequency current. The ceramic tip prevents this current from "arcing" or leaking to the metal sheath
- Thermal Protection: Surgical resection generates localized heat exceeding 100°C. The ceramic material possesses excellent thermal stability, ensuring that the distal tip of the sheath does not deform or transmit excessive heat to the surrounding healthy mucosal tissue.
- Mechanical Guidance: The cartridge is precision-engineered to provide a smooth, low-friction channel for the Electrode to slide back and forth. It ensures the perfect alignment of the cutting loop relative to the telescope's field of view.
- Fluid Dynamics Maintenance: As part of the 8655.144 internal sheath, the ceramic tip is designed to maintain the "Continuous Flow" characteristic. It helps manage the inflow of irrigation fluid to keep the surgical site clear of blood and debris while maintaining stable intra-cavity pressure.

►FAQ
How to judge if the ceramic cartridge is failing?
A failing cartridge usually shows one of the following signs:
1.Visual Damage: Chipping, cracking, or pitting on the tip (inspect under 5x magnification).
2.Arcing: If you see sparks jumping from the electrode to the sheath during a procedure.
3.Tissue Charring: If the ceramic surface becomes blackened and cannot be cleaned; carbonized tissue is conductive and compromises insulation.
4.Leakage: The device fails a standard electrical leakage test.
