OPGW is a hybrid cable designed to integrate optical fiber transmission with an overhead ground wire used in power transmission. It serves dual purposes by functioning as both an optical fiber cable and a grounding wire, protecting against lightning and carrying short circuit currents.
The OPGW consists of an optical unit housed within a stainless steel tube, surrounded by aluminum-clad steel wire and aluminum alloy wire. It has a central stainless steel tube and a layered construction. The design can be tailored to different environmental conditions and customer needs.
