Magnesium nitrate (chemical formula Mg (NO3) 2) is a colorless crystalline powder with hygroscopicity. In humid air, magnesium nitrate can quickly react with water to form hexahydrate magnesium nitrate. Magnesium nitrate is easily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, and liquid ammonia, and its aqueous solution is neutral. The relative density is 1.464 and the melting point is about 95 ℃. Magnesium nitrate has oxidizing properties and can generate heat and burn when mixed with flammable organic compounds, posing a fire and explosion hazard.
