Comparison with other alloys
Incoloy 800: For applications that require high temperature strength but are not in extreme conditions, commonly found in heat exchangers, furnace components and chemical equipment.
Incoloy 800H: For applications that require higher strength at high temperatures, common in ethylene cracking furnaces, hydrocarbon cracking and heat treatment equipment.
Incoloy 800HT: For demanding high temperature applications, common in power generation, steam superheaters and high temperature heat exchangers.
Specific Applications
- Furnace plates, fixtures and radiant tubes: Incoloy 800H tubes are used to manufacture furnace plates, fixtures and radiant tubes, and are able to resist carbonization and handle thermal cycling.
- Annealing equipment: In annealing equipment, Incoloy 800H tubes are able to withstand high temperatures for long periods of time in a controlled atmosphere.
Advantages and Characteristics
- Corrosion resistance: Incoloy 800H alloy performs well in a variety of corrosive media, including hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, phosphoric acid, etc. It has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chlorides, low concentration NaOH aqueous solutions and high temperature and high pressure water. The nickel content is sufficient to prevent chloride ion stress corrosion cracking, and nickel, together with molybdenum and copper, also has excellent resistance to reducing chemicals.
- The chromium content provides resistance to oxidizing environments.
- High temperature stability: Incoloy 800H alloy has excellent stability at high temperatures and can be used for a long time at temperatures up to 800°C without significant degradation.
- Through reasonable heat treatment process, its microstructure can be adjusted, the mechanical properties can be optimized, and good processing and forming capabilities can be maintained.
- Good machinability: Incoloy 800H pipes can be processed and formed by a variety of traditional methods, such as casting, forging, rolling and welding.
- Excellent weldability: Incoloy 800H alloy has good adaptability to various welding methods, such as argon arc welding, electron beam welding, etc. The welded joint has high strength and low crack sensitivity.
