Manual starters are simple, user-operated devices that control equipment activation without requiring expert intervention. These starters feature either a button or rotary knob that mechanically opens or closes contacts to start or stop the motor.

When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), the process follows these steps:

1. Electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid
2. Solenoid transfers charge from battery to starter motor
3. Current activates motor and engages starter drive (Bendix)
4. Mechanism connects with vehicle's flywheel
5. Motor cranks engine to initiate combustion process
6. Once engine runs independently, starter disengages automatically
